Scale Building

Explore and hear comes first: pick any root and any scale type, see it spelled on the staff in the clef you read, and play it back. Then the builder makes you do it. You're given the tonic and you spell degrees two through eight yourself — major, natural minor or harmonic minor, in treble, bass, alto or tenor.

You can tap a column on the staff, drag a note up and down, or drive the whole thing from the D-pad or the keyboard: A–G set letters, M and S the flat and sharp, N and X their doubles. Submit unlocks once all eight are filled, and a complete scale can be played back before you commit to it.

The accidental buttons follow the tonic's own spelling — a flat key offers flats, a sharp key sharps, and a double-flat or double-sharp button appears only when the scale you're building genuinely contains one. All twelve tonics are here in both spellings, including the theoretical keys most tools quietly skip: D♯, G♯ and A♯ major, D♭ and G♭ minor.

A perfect eight out of eight offers you the next scale; anything less lets you flip the wrong notes over to the right ones, in purple, on the staff you just built. Ticking a scale off your list is your own call — a “mark as completed” box sits under the tonics and is live whether or not you have built that scale here.
